Against Privatization: Students Fight Back in India

Graffiti seen at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi, India, where students have occupied the administration block in protest against a massive fee hike that will drive the poor people out of the university.

The students are fighting against the privatisation of education that is becoming rampant in India especially because of the right wing government turning it into a commodity through neo-liberal economic policies.

On November 19, 2019, police attacked a peaceful student demonstration to the parliament in Dehli using teargas and water-cannons. Hundreds of students were beaten and detained by police and had their belongings confiscated.

Despite the repression the struggle for affordable education continues

Holy Spirit, thank you for your these winds of revolt! Glory to the waking masses!

Be with the revolting students in India. Protect them. Strengthen them. Bless their work. May they be heard. May their vision of revolution be contagious.

Continue to fan into flame rebellion all over the globe.

Amen.
